Jubilee Concert "Happy and Glorious"

"amazing" "very moving" "fantastic and memorable concert" "so powerful and inspiring"

Just some of the comments following our successful Jubilee Concert on 22nd May 2022 at the Ruddock Performing Arts Centre in Birmingham.

Our special concert to celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee was a joint concert with Midlands Hospitals' Choir in support of Unicef. We were delighted to be able to send a cheque to Unicef for the £470 raised in donations.

The first half of the concert represented a musical celebration of the Queen's 70 years on the throne, opening with the Coronation Anthem, Zadok the Priest, followed by a wonderful organ solo by Richard Dawson of the Coronation March, Crown Imperial, and a majestic performance of Mozart's Coronation Mass by the two choirs and soloists Alexandra Stait (Soprano), Claire Vaughan (Mezzo Soprano), Daniel Jones (Tenor) and Jonathan Hatley (Bass).

The second half of the concert included a reflection on the impact of the war in Ukraine. We started with Dan Forrest's Shalom, followed by a very poignant violin solo by Jody Smith of High Pass (a piece inspired from the Vysokyi Pereval Pass in Eastern Ukraine). After a very moving performance of Kurt Bestor's Prayer of the Children, the audience joined us in singing the Ukraine national anthem.

The concert closed with a powerful rendition of Joseph M Martin's The Awakening.
