Reports on our concerts in 2016/17

Christmas Cracker ConcertSaturday 17 December 2016
Our Christmas Cracker Concert took place in the Ruddock Performing Arts Centre, King Edward's Schools, Edgbaston Park Road, B15 2UA.  The programme included unusual arrangements of several old favourites as well as some more modern seasonal pieces and some items to sing along to. Gemini Brass, led by Bob Vivian, appeared as our guests and provided some rousing music.  The concert was a great success, with a warm atmosphere and plenty of enthusiastic appreciation for the choir and the brass ensemble.  Comments included 'Best concert Phoenix has given', 'Great atmosphere, enhanced by the Brass', 'the choir are singing better than ever'.  We raffled a generous hamper, full of items donated by choir members, which was won by a very appreciative member of the audience.  A proportion of the proceeds from the concert will go to this year's charity, which is Samaritans.  A bucket swing received generous donations for them - amount to be confirmed.

Trip to Eastbourne
Many members of the choir travelled to Eastbourne for the weekend of 22 - 24 July to sing in the Central Methodist Church.  These weekends away are an opportunity to get to know other members of the choir in a social setting and a good time was had by all.  The weather was especially kind and our concert was much appreciated.

Summer Charity Concert, Saturday 16 July
Another successful concert, with a varied repertoire, including several modern pieces specially arranged for the choir by Bob Ramskill, in particular The Rose, commissioned in memory of a former founder member of the choir.

The bucket swing raised nearly £300 for the Lymphoma Association and they will also receive a proportion of the profit from the event.

We are delighted that our Spring concert at St David's in Shenley Green raised an amazing £1350 towards the repairs to the roof.
Thank you to all those who came along to what was a highly enjoyable concert and helped us to raise the money.
